Leading Taupo-based Fertilizer Company Uptake New Zealand are excited to announce a new member of their stellar team – Alicia Wilkinson.
Alicia officially started 13th February 2019 and has already been put through her paces “I have been training with Uptake owner John Davis but last week he sent me down to the Wairarapa to go and introduce myself to some of the existing clients that I haven’t met yet. I was keen to get out on my own to test myself,” comments Alicia.
Uptake has a less is more approach and focuses on animal nutrition rather than just growing more grass. “Uptake are a progressive forward-thinking company that branches out to other things that the other competitors aren’t doing, for example using Uptake’s fertiliser on the Manuka to improve flowering for the bees,” adds Alicia.
Uptake’s new team member
Alicia always had a passion for farming and agriculture having grown-up on a deer farm on the outskirts of Masterton. “Living rurally has enabled me the opportunity to raise my own flock of sheep for the past five years and completing the tasks that are required to get them to market from the animal husbandry to organising the local livestock agent,” comments Alicia. Her interests are horse riding, hunting (mainly pigs and deer) and all sports.
So far her favourite part about the job has been meeting new people, learning about their farming systems and seeing lots of new country. In the future, Alicia looks forward to: “establishing my own client base and working alongside farmers to help them achieve their goals,” adds Alicia.
Believing in Uptake’s great focus on sustainability, Alicia says that Uptake’s fine-particle application is more effective and less harmful to the environment.
“Once I am ready to be out on my own full time I will be based in the Wairarapa but look after areas such as the Manawatu and Wellington region,” adds Alicia.
